I mean, isn\u2019t grass supposed to get a ton of sunlight? The short answer is yes. You probably remember learning a really long word called photosynthesis in grade school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forages.oregonstate.edu\/regrowth\/how-does-grass-grow\/photosynthesis\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Photosynthesis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is the process by which plants take light energy from the sun and convert it into sugar and carbohydrates. Plants use these sugars and carbs for energy. Energy they need to survive and remain healthy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, does this mean you have to give up your beloved trees and plants? Here in Eastlake, Ohio, we have <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cool-season grasses<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Cool-season turf types grow better in\u00a0<\/span>the spring and fall.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most types of grass need 4-6 hours of direct sunlight, but there are a few <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">types of <\/span><b>grass th<\/b><b>at gro<\/b><b>w in shade<\/b>.
