Bentgrass spreads horizontally through <\/span>stolons<\/b>, or above-ground runners, that weave a dense mat of fine stems and roots. That mat chokes out surrounding grasses, such as bluegrass or ryegrass, leaving a soft but spongy texture.<\/span><\/p>\n
